Hi peeps.
I would like to start remixing. Does anyone know how to remix? where do i start? how do i start?
I'd like to work with logic. Is it good? not good? how do i lay a vocal that is 70bpm onto a beat of 128 bpm?
would be nice if someone told me the steps to consider.
Thanks.

reason for me recommending sonic academy is because it's arguably faster to get started on remixing and producing as they do agreebly show you how to do it their way but in the beginning its better than none oh yeah vengeance rules u know its good cos knas is made from it hahah

I agree with all of the above. Mac + Midi Keyboard + Good Quality Speaker = Set
Best sample pack for any beginner would be the Vengeance Collection.
Remix packs can be found on various websites. Most have been illegaly passed around without artists permission but who cares.
If you intend on sending your remix out to the public make sure youv got all the copyright shit sorted out aswell.
Hope this helps

Hi guys
Thnx for the feedback. Perhaps it was my fault not to have mentioned that I use logic with a midi keyboard. (and of course i have a mac and speakers etc....)
I have also produced tracks so thats not the problem. I knwo how to start with a "new" production.
But i dont know how to remix! I have never done this before.
Whats steps should i consider? the thing is that i'd like to do it all in logic. is it good or possible?
you tube and google doesnot help much becuase i cannot find the "same user" using logic and including ALL steps i need.
Thanx

Thanx Dont understand what you reallyl want help with doing.. I dont remix alot but if i would i wouldnt really see it as something hard to do. If you already got parts from a production, its easier then ever.. just take some parts that you like and add something to it. Maybe some diefferent percussion or some top melody or whatever. If you dont got any parts, sample stuff. "Steal" the melody and play it with another instruments. The only limit is your own imagination! Just make sure you hear something from the original and it becomes a remix. And yes, i would go for ONE program. There's not much you would want to do that you cant do in logic (or any other program actually).

theres no rules for remixing.
just listen to the track a few times and pick out what you like. than just play with the samples there or try to recreate melodies with another instrument, change notes, just play around. theres nothing you can do wrong!

Hey guys.
Thanxz again.
Yeah well I dont have experience remixing ANY songs at all. So i was hoping for some tips other than just "imagination".
I mean say for instance I have a song at 70bpm or perhaps 90bpm and I want to remix it to a house track... how do i start? (I have a beat set up with no melody)...
for instance california love from 2pac.... just an example... its around the 90bpm... I got a beat at 128 bpm... but it just doesn't match... do i have to trim the vocals like 100X and adjust it and flip it and stuff?
what do u call and how do u do it.... adjusting the tempo from XXXbpm to XXXbpm?
thanx.

thanx. lol, mate forget remixing 70 or 80BPM as a house track, it would sound incredibly fast, dont do that... and other thing, try making something of your own first, read manual for your program (ableton, fl studio or logic) u seem to be a very big newbie anyway u can always change tempo with audacity, or any wave aplication,,, but for me personally the best solution is traktor (because those editors made a small glitches if i was changing tempo for more then 5 beats)

Hey Guys!
I haven't done a remix yet but i want to do one. I do understand it's theory but i don't understand how to for example turn the track we want to remix into an acapella (in case if i don't need the instrumental). Another thing that i don't understand is how to get rid of the sounds from the track i have like i don't want the bassline to be in the track. How can i get rid of the bassline? Thanks for your help!
